Profile bio

About Latisha Chisholm, Edd, Licsw

Dr. Latisha Chisholm studies the subversive practices leaders must implement to disrupt cultural reproduction – our continued US societal deference to organizational management norms that were originally refined to exploit and control the masses during the enslavement of Black people. Her work is grounded in the k-12 education system, specifically drawing from the wisdom of inner city educators. However, just as great educators borrow from other industries to inform our practices, leadership theories refined for educators are also appropriate for other industries. She works as an executive site director for College Track in southeast Washington, DC. Previously she worked for DC Public Schools, over more than a decade, as a special education and english teacher, special education coordinator, community school manager, and assistant principal. She received a doctorate in educational and organizational leadership with distinction from UPenn’s Graduate School of Education, a masters is social welfare (MSW) from University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelors in psychology with honors from Stanford University.——————With College Track, I work in Southeast D.C. helping underserved first generation college hopefuls make it to and through college. In addition to this deeply important community-based work, supporting the development of the professionals I work with, and cultivating a highly ethical culture for all stakeholders, is a passion of mine.Former high school administrator, community school manager, special education coordinator, and teacher blended and individualized learning instructional coach. Experience working in self-contained classrooms for students labeled Emotionally Disturbed, and with Specific Learning Disabilities. Additional experience teaching in inclusion settings, and with repeating students. Dual certification in Special Education K-12 and English 6-12. Social worker with experience in individual and group therapy, in addition to crisis counseling services for children and adolescents. Training in Narrative Therapy practices with high school and elementary aged youth in individual and group settings, including drug and alcohol prevention group counseling. Crisis assessment, safety contracting, and crisis planning and case management experience.Experience studying adolescent developmental assets and self-efficacy, and training mentors for youth in the Juvenile Justice System and the Foster Care System.
