Accomplishments: Coordinated Indiana Youth Tobacco Survey and lead statistical analysis and report, which led me to profound insights that I relayed to state legislature to prevent underage tobacco use. Raised public awareness about the dangers of tobacco, by hosting webinars, partnering with advocacy groups and consortiums, and other opportunistic organizations. Executed Stanford University’s STARS pilot study in Indiana, uncovering the youth-targeted sales strategies of tobacco companies, which lead to a full study and profound findings. Collaborated with other internal epidemiologists to create a newsletter, to maximize population knowledge and public health advocacy efforts.

National Jewish Health, Denver, Colorado 2010-2012RESEARCH ASSISTANT  Developed epidemiological study design for Chronic Beryllium Disease, using clinical trial data to determine range of disease state severity. Worked cross-functionally to promote timeliness and meet delivery deadlines. Observed patient in-clinic visits to further evaluate quality of life and effect of medicinal/healthcare intervention.

 Conducted Flu and MRSA disease surveillance at 6 hospitals disbursed throughout 5 counties, expanding data from more patient profiles to improve health promotion efforts. Systematized patient outreach to ensure that pertinent details were gathered to provide insight into patient reported outcomes. Provided meaningful feedback and changes during monthly conference calls with Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to improve data capturing criteria.

 Investigated and determined status of insurance eligibility for Veterans and their families, and provided retroactive credits (when applicable) that allowed patients to receive necessary care. Recommended insightful suggestions and updates to Chief of Support Services Division, that improved the procedure for auditing reports. Conducted special research projects for program efficiency, which eliminated errors by 30%.
