Fulfilling a role as Media Specialist Eating Disorders hits home for me. As someone with lived experience with eating disorders and as a writer, I know all too well that the power of words works both ways. Several Dutch organisations and the government have collaborated in an effort to ensure that media representations are helpful rather than unintentionally harmful for people with or susceptible to eating disorders.To this end, the NAE (Nederlandse Academie voor Eetstoornissen / Dutch Academy for Eating Disorders) has carefully comprised a guide on how to represent eating disorders in the media.The Dutch Eating Disorder Patient Association, WEET, has launched a website to offer a safe alternative to websites that promote eating disorders.Both projects aim to raise awareness and create a safer online space.As a Media Specialist, I will be involved in both projects. My responsibilites include:• Promoting and implementing the guide by NAE in the media• Making the guide a staple for any media outlet• Managing and developing content for the website• Acting as a spokeswoman

Examenservices develops and maintains a wide range of exams for vocational education. They were looking for someone who could create clarity amongst chaos, and I'm the right person for that.They've asked me to take care of their portfolio of foreign language exams for their transport and maritime exam organisation. Since then, my assignment has been expanded with several more projects for their hospitality and creative industry exams. My responsibilities for these include:• Coordinating between various stakeholders• Writing project plans• Managing time and deadlines• Taking inventory of client wishes and required actions• Organising and chairing meetings• Managing the development and maintenance of all exams in my portfolios• Creatively solving existing challenges in the process flow and collaborations• Performing quality checks on exams• Redefining their vision on language examination

Yet curiosity won me over at one point, and one thing led to another.
