The main responsibilities of my team were to track, control, and optimize the organization’s overall budget. I am proud to say that we were successful in exceeding the corporation’s year-end financial goals. These included targets for capital spend, operations and maintenance spend, and net income.This position really strengthened my ability to influence others and drive change in the organization. Without a high position of authority, I learned how to motivate people at or above my seniority to achieve my group’s primary mission.

My role as a Business Operations Analyst for PPL has given me a broad-based view of the company. I have successfully completed initiatives that involve Project Management, Engineering, Asset Management, Transmission Operations, and System Engineering. Many of my projects have required input and cooperation from contributors at my level up through Directors. They have allowed me to showcase my ability to mobilize and lead teams of varying compositions. Further, I have learned how to distill complex, highly technical concepts into information that is relevant to particular audiences. This allows decision makers to maximize the value of and best apply the information I provide. Not only have I conveyed these concepts through contributions at staff meetings, but I have also had opportunities to speak to Director level personnel, the entirety of Transmission leadership, and the President of the company.

Through MSA I gained expertise in designing products to meet national and global standards such as those promulgated by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). I worked extensively with MSA’s European helmet design group, Gallet, located in France, and interacted directly with MSA manufacturing sites. I am most proud of successfully conducting a statistical capability analysis on the entire Cairns line, leading to an increase in both performance and strength.

At JATCO, I worked heavily with a Japanese based team to calibrate and test continuously variable transmissions for Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) prototype vehicles. As the liaison between JATCO and US Suppliers, I learned how to work effectively in a cross-cultural organization while developing an understanding of Japanese business customs.
