Most 2-year-olds enter a “why” phase as they learn about the world and the people around them. I was no exception, except my “why” phase never ended…First, I wanted to discover the “why” behind the spark of attraction.I became an attraction expert and designed an award-winning research study that examined how the brain reacts to attractive others and why this process drives physical attraction. I published a scientific paper and shared my insights with 100s of researchers at 4 national conferences. Then, I wanted to discover “why” media portrayal of the female body impacts attraction to others.I designed an innovative research study to examine how physical ideals perpetuated by the media impact female self-esteem and subsequent interest in prospective romantic mates. I presented my findings to 100s of researchers at 3 national conferences and discovered a profound interest in using behavioral science to enhance well-being.Next, I wanted to discover “why” positive behavior change promotes well-being.I crafted individualized behavioral interventions for over 100 children and their families to foster positive behavior change, improving their communication, daily living activities, and socialization skills by 5 - 15% annually.I’ve always sought to understand the “why” behind human behavior. Understanding “why” is fundamental to promoting positive behavior change to enhance well-being.
