As a seasoned speech-language pathologist, clinical instructor, and administrator with over three decades of experience, I thrive on working with people from all walks of life. Whether it's through hands-on clinical practice, developing community programs, teaching the next generation of clinicians, or embracing my inner technology enthusiast, I am ready for new challenges that benefit the community and keep me engaged and excited for the future. My professional journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence, with a focus on collaborative care in the areas of acquired brain injury, aphasia and dementia. Currently, I serve as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Indiana University, where I also directed the IU Speech-Language Clinic for 23 years. I have a strong focus on interprofessional education and collaboration, which is reflected in my role on various university committees and my active participation in professional organizations such as the Council on Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders. My teaching portfolio includes courses on counseling, professional issues, dysphagia, and aphasia, among others. In addition to my teaching and clinical roles, I have contributed to the field through collaborative presentations at numerous national conferences, related to interprofessional practice, aging, and counseling. I strongly believe in giving back to the profession and am excited to begin serving a four-year term as a site surveyor for the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). Beyond academia, I am deeply involved in community outreach. I co-founded Bloomington’s first Brain Injury Support Group, volunteered as a guardian advocate for seniors and incapacitated adults, and collaborated with community partners to support individuals with dementia and their families. As a technology enthusiast, I assist colleagues and neighbors with tech-related issues and serve as vice-president of my homeowners association, where I advocate for community interests.
