Laura Brown’s background is in strategy, research and communications in healthcare and education. She has served as a consultant and strategist for healthcare organizations, non-profits, advertising and technology companies and educational institutions. Laura has published and presented social scientific research in dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and books on physician empathy, the opioid epidemic, pharmacist education, LGBTQ+ patient care, telemedicine, health literacy and informed consent, and health communication campaigns. As a consultant, Laura has worked on a variety of important and diversified projects that have effected public policy and business directives. Select projects have included: creating a comprehensive communication toolkit that was distributed to every medical prescriber in the state of Texas; creating an end-to-end rebrand and new messaging for a consumer healthcare organization; conducting research for a CDC-funded project; and developing data-driven insights for a variety of private-and public-sector growth initiatives. Laura has formal training in social scientific research design and data analysis and brings her experience as an academic to her strategy and product management work.
