In this role, I deliver specialist legal advice to Deaf people mainly in British Sign Language on a wide range of issues through RAD’s Community Legal Advice Webcam service in the areas of welfare benefits, housing and family. This includes liaising with other organisations, agencies, third parties, and law firms on behalf of clients.I am able to managed my own caseload and maintain the standards of professional service in line with Legal Services Standards and Procedure (and in earlier years: Community Legal Advice Quality Mark and the Office of Immigration Services Commission’s Rules and Code of Standards).I had core responsibility of maximising the Law Centre’s Legal Aid income subject to the Law Centre’s guidelines and work priorities.As in any legal work, I always ensure that my own legal knowledge is as up to date as possible in the relevant field of law including welfare benefits, employment, discrimination, family and housing.I am known in the organisation as the most reliable in recording and monitoring of cases.

Previous responsibilities as a Supervising Caseworker, RAD between April 2008 – Feb 2012 included: and advice and completed monitoring reports on time as required by any funders.Monitoring and supervising the work of Caseworkers; sampling case files on a regular basis; ensuring that the policies and service standards of RAD were observed and implemented; training Caseworkers and maintaining their knowledge of laws and regulations; establishing legal advice services within London, under the direction of the Legal Services Supervisor; sending completed monitoring reports to the Legal Services Commission on a monthly basis, meeting with tight deadlines.
