About Laura Mccarthy
As the Corporate Support Unit Manager, I am responsible for leading and managing a team in the provision of key corporate support services for patient and staff travel, accommodation, motor vehicles and communication for the South West Hospital and Health Service. My role motivates, manages, and drives continual improvement in the Corporate Services Unit to deliver a high quality, cost effective and client focused service for SWHHS in accordance with Queensland Health policies, procedures, and legislative guidelines. The position provides an opportunity for excellence in leadership and management of Corporate Support Services to ensure superior performance across all departments, services, KPIs and objectives.Prior to this role I was the Workforce Establishment and Analytics Officer (AO5) for People and Culture at SWHHS. For the first ever SWHHS Culture Compass 2024 Employee Experience Survey, I was responsible for extracting, analysing and submitting all the relevant data to BPA. Overall, my contribution led to the project’s success, achieving a 68% response rate which is a QH record, outperforming surveys by West Moreton and Gold Coast. I have been solely responsible for developing a SWHHS Establishment Register, which is the result of exporting data from multiple computerised HR information systems including DSS, myHR, SAP HR etc and compiling it in one single point of reference. The purpose of the register is to enable the development of meaningful reports collation and analysis of information to enable the SWHHS to make organisational decisions based on accurate data. Currently, I am working on a project to improve our Board reporting by presenting our HR data through data visualization tools such as Power BI.
