Commún builds community resilience through relationships and programs that center community voice, cultivate a sense of belonging, and realize equity. I co-manage Food and Mental Health programs alongside the community with the goal of achieving food sovereignty and co-creating an equitable, accessible mental healthcare program in Southwest Denver.

Supported students aged 11-18 by reducing barriers to access, providing academic support and engagement, checking in individually, and promoting social-emotional learning during out-of-school time activities. Supervised graduate level interns from Metro State, DU, and Naropa.

Facilitated 8 week program on topics of food justice, permaculture, community food activism, and urban farm maintenance for 30 high schoolers

Co-facilitated monthly workshops for high school participants on social justice frameworks and intensive cross-identity communication. Assisted Executive Director and Program Director with program management tasks.

Led afterschool cooking classes for children from Swansea Elementary weekly and engaged in program planning and curriculum development for summer teen program.

Volunteered weekly to help lead team of seven high schoolers from Albany through farmwork for CSA.

Co-created 501(c)(3) fiscally sponsored gleaning program in Columbia County; envisioned mission, vision, goals for 2016 pilot season and beyond. Held meetings with farmers, community organizations, food pantries and alternative produce drop-off sites to discuss needs of clients. Secured funding for pilot year in partnership with Hawthorne Valley Farm.

Provide sexual abuse prevention education for head start and K-6 grade students in Columbia and Greene Counties; conduct outreach on topics such as sexual assault, consent, and domestic violence on community college campus and in community. Manage volunteer victim advocates and coordinate staffing of 24 hour hotline.

Taught lunchtime cooking clubs to 3rd-6th graders at MC Smith Intermediate School in the Hudson City School District. Led afterschool farm-based activities for children from intermediate school at Hawthorne Valley Farm. Activities centered around maintenance of farm, care of animals, garden work, and cooking using ingredients from farm.

Guided children age 8-12 during farm, garden, cooking and outdoor recreation activities.

Assisted farmer with all necessary work on small, sustainable farm. Sewed seeds and transplanted vegetable and flower starts, configured irrigation, weeded, harvested.

Reduce food waste and increase access to fresh, nutritious food for clients of area food banks. Coordinate with farmers, gardeners and orchardists to capture surplus or unmarketable produce. Recruit volunteers to glean produce from fields, gardens, orchards and transport produce to food banks. Oversee two community gardens that provide fruits and vegetables to neighbors in low-income neighborhoods.
