Laura is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.A. in History and a Minor in Criminal Justice. She earned her law degree from Faulkner University. Laura was an Eagle Scholarship recipient during law school. She competed in the 1L Moot Court Competition and was a member of the Buffalo/Niagra Trial Competition team, AAJ Trial Competition Team, National Trial Competition Team, and was a finalist in the Greg Allen Mock Trial Competition. Laura was also the Secretary for the Student Bar Association, Treasurer for the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, and V.P. of the Women’s Student Association. She received awards for best grade in her Contracts II and Criminal Procedure classes. Laura was a student mediator for both Montgomery and Autauga County District Courts. She was a Senior Editor for the Faulkner Law Review. Her article Overruling the Overwhelming Necessity Standard for Modifications of Child Custody in Alabama: Ex parte Earl Cleghorn was published in the Spring 2010 edition of the Faulkner Law Review. During law school, Laura clerked for a civil defense firm, interned for Judge Charles Price, and also clerked for the Environmental and Executive Divisions of the Alabama Attorney General's Office. After graduating from law school, she was appointed a Deputy Attorney General for the State of Alabama. Laura then went on to serve as Assistant Attorney General/Associate General Counsel for ADEM. She worked primarily on enforcement cases, personnel matters, and also in the BP litigation. Laura is currently working at the Vance Law Firm and specializes in Personal Injury Law. Laura taught Contract Drafting at Faulkner Law School, legal studies and Paralegal classes at local universities, as well as CLE classes on Technology in the Courtroom. She also taught online CLE classes for NALA. Laura is a member of the local Bar Association, Past President of the Women’s Section and a member of the Junior League.
