Currently, I am a mature student in the Faculty of Environmental Studies with a wealth of experience spanning several industries. I will graduate in 2021 with a B.E.S. and a Certificate in Public Policy Analysis. Ultimately, I hope to use my past and present education and experiences to propel me into a career in Public Policy within the Federal or Provincial branches of Canadian Government. I am especially interested in environmental policy, including Indigenous issues and resource extraction, as well as social planning policy with regards to women and children.Previously, I have worked and trained extensively in the jewellery industry. In 2015 I graduated with Honors from George Brown College from their Jewellery Methods program- a highly technical designation in classical goldsmith training. I then started a successful small business called LOLA jewellery, which lives on as a side project to this day. The transferable skills I collected during this time include: technical drawing, design, creativity, attention to detail, social media marketing, small business management, bookkeeping, and customer service.I am also educated and experienced in the social services industry. In 2007, I completed my Diploma from the Assaulted Women’s and Children’s Counsellor Advocate program at George Brown College, after which I worked for several non-profits. As such, I also come with highly developed skills in interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, crisis management, program facilitation, cross cultural intelligence, case management, problem solving, and stress tolerance.Due to my unique combination of experiences, I believe I will be able to provide my future employers with an excellent range of skills and qualities, as well as a perspective on the world and its issues that is unlike any other potential candidates. I am open to discussing research projects and internships in my academic areas of interest.
