About Laura Blackburn

I am a passionate social impact leader dedicated to creating thoughtful systemic change in partnership with grassroots communities, thought leaders, employees, and customers. With over 13 years of experience in strategic planning, program and project management, and education and gender equity at industry-leading start-ups and education equity organizations, I develop and lead initiatives that catalyze meaningful social change. In my most recent role as Director of GiveRise at Thinx Inc., I built and managed a social impact program dedicated to expanding gender equality within communities and executed strategic initiatives reaching tens of thousands of girls and women around the world. Prior to my work in corporate social responsibility, I worked as an editor and in education program management, writing curriculum and designing professional development sessions used by educators worldwide. I also spent 4 years teaching in New York City schools. I believe organizations can be powerful vehicles for social change, and I get fired up helping customers and employees galvanize around solvable issues. I do this by leading strategic, cross-functional work, which engages and connects diverse stakeholders. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with communities, we can create meaningful change.
