For as long as I can remember, I have loved the ocean "because you can't see the other side." That limitlessness - of horizons, activities, and possibilities - has drawn me back again and again to pursue education and work focused on the sea, the natural world, and science questions that don't have obvious answers. I grew up during a time of expanding climate and sustainability awareness, and I have always gravitated toward finding ways to contribute to understanding our planet's systems and developing strategies for humans to sustainably function within the world around us. I completed B.S. and M.S. degrees in Earth Systems at Stanford University to build a comprehensive background in environmental systems and their economic and societal intersections. After working at the science-policy interface as a California Sea Grant State Fellow with IOOS and the West Coast Governors Alliance, I pursued a Ph.D. in Oceanography to improve my question development, structuring, and data analysis and expand my "systems-level" thinking. During my Ph.D., I also helped start and co-lead the Scripps Sustainability Group at UC San Diego to more fully incorporate sustainability practices into daily campus habits. I currently work in ecological consulting, applying my unique combination of skills and background in oceans, climate, and Earth systems, statistical analysis, and communication to establish scientific bases in environmental litigation and to assist clients in navigating ecological background and emerging regulations as they build out forward-looking adaptations, technologies, and resource use in our changing environment.In addition to (and during!) my work, I am an avid surfer, horse polo player, wave photographer, sailor, runner, and rock climber. I also love foreign languages and puns.
