As the Purchasing Technician of the Pharmacy department of a large teaching hospital, I am responsible for the process of ensuring medication availability by sourcing and purchasing medicines within the assigned Pharmacy Department budget. I have experience of working within budgets, contract management, researching alternative suppliers and products, comparing prices and engaging effectively with suppliers.My role includes:• Responsibility for procurement activities in a pharmaceutical environment – including supplier selection, cost reporting, supply chain management.• Forecasting product requirements through close communication with department managers to ensure no disruptions in treatment to patients.• Responsibility for the department stock management including organising the annual 3rd party stock take.• Invoice preparation and reconciliation in conjunction with the Finance department.• Coaching and training employees in procurement and receipt of goods.• the need to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills, communication abilities and proficiency in Microsoft Word®, Excel® and PowerPoint® along with financial software system, Agresso®.
