Collaborating in the 16-volume collection "The Persecution and Murder of the European Jews by Nazi Germany, 1933–1945" edited on behalf of the German Federal Archives, the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History (IfZ), and the Chair of Modern History at the University of Freiburg. In collaboration with Yad Vashem.This volume collection presents an extensive selection of primary sources on the persecution and murder of the European Jews under the German National Socialist regime. The documents illustrate the political and social background and developments that brought about this unprecedented mass crime in Germany and throughout Europe.Each volume comprises translations of primary sources – most of them previously unpublished – that record events from the perspective of perpetrators, victims, and those not directly involved in the crimes. The documents, which are presented chronologically, include legislative texts, official records, letters and diary entries, newspaper articles, conference proceedings, and speeches. All documents are translated from the language of the original source. The introduction to each volume provides detailed insight into the history of the period, and the documents are annotated to include biographical and bibliographical information as well as explanation of specialist terms and concepts.
