Being apart of the banking industry for over a decade, I started supporting my clients by showing them how to manage their personal debt through simple solutions and restructuring. Helping clients understand the basics of how credit works, and the tools available to help them fulfil their financial goals, brought purpose to my role. As a SME and later a Learning Specialist (Facilitator), my experience supporting clients allowed me to pass on the foundational knowledge needed for new employees to fulfill their roles in contact centre environments. I have successfully led synchronous virtual training for both our Credit Cards and internal Collections departments. Being a facilitator empowered me to be myself and have the freedom of creativity. I enjoyed curating engaging review activities, story telling, and collaborating with my colleagues to improve on, and create content. This led me to my current role as a Learning Consultant (eLearning Developer / Instructional Designer).Considering the needs of stakeholders (business partners, facilitators and learners) requires me to create informative, comprehensible and engaging content that is both accessible and inclusive. This role continues to stretch my knowledge and understanding of Adult Education and learning principals. My work and personal experiences allow me to incorporate all my skills in my business. As a teacher of Conversational English and Pronunciation to Adult English language learners, I build relationships with my clients to support their language goals. I understand that this role is more than about language, but also creating space for my students to feel safe enough to ask questions, share stories, listen to the challenges, and celebrate their wins. My goal is to ensure my clients feel seen and heard in a language that can be difficult to master. I am living my purpose of facilitating, creating content, and creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone I meet, while continuing to learn and grow.
