Lab manager and bio-scientist for two laboratories utilized by seven faculty members for food animal research (dairy, beef, poultry, swine). Involved with all stages of research from grant preparations, experimental planning, performing lab tests, and preparation of manuscripts. Transitioned the lab into a diagnostic testing lab in order to provide income to supplement other activities. Responsible for teaching and supervising graduate students, veterinary students, undergraduate students, and visiting scientists. Maintained all laboratory records, prepared and maintained IACUC certification for all animal research, prepared for safety and biosafety inspections, kept all lab personnel up to date on all required training; as well as ordering supplies and equipment, and general maintenance on all lab equipment.

Performed feed intake studies and diet analysis of several species at the zoo. Animals were chosen due to health or quality of life concerns that were thought to be associated with their current diets. Data collected was used to provide suggested diet changes to the zoo nutritionist, veterinarians, and curators.
