Disability And Wellbeing Officer
Leading on the set-up and delivery of a new centralised workplace adjustment budget and process, I worked closely with stakeholders including our Disabled Staff Forum, Trade Unions, Directors and Health and Safety. Working on the delivery of a summer internship programme for students and graduates with a disability or long-term condition, my role was to: + Contribute to the design delivery of an inclusive recruitment process which saw over 700 applications in 2021. + Deliver specialist disability and employment training to staff within leading organisations across the UK.+ Case manage 30+ interns and their line managers, with a particular focus on identifying and removing barriers through workplace adjustments and inclusive best practice.+ Provide confidential and tailored advice to interns, often focused on the barriers they are, or anticipate facing during their internship and what adjustments they need to thrive in their role.+ Manage the training and on-going support of approx 80 mentors each year.+ Lead on the development and implementation of a fully accessible, online professional development programme, preparing content and running online learning sessions for 100+ interns.+ Oversee the planning and delivery of an annual graduation event, creating an accessible and safe space to celebrate and reflect on intern, line manager and mentor achievements.

Both aspects of the role included:+ Acting as a consultant and mediator between autistic job seekers, employees and their manager(s). + Delivering Autism Awareness Training covering areas such as the social model of disability, the Equality Act 2010 and practical advice on inclusive communication.+ Developing and running workshops for autistic people on topics including ‘Managing Anxiety in the Workplace’ & ‘Disclosing an ASC Diagnosis to an Employer’.
