About Laura Raiff
My research interests exist in the intersection of neuroimaging, speech science, and computation. In particular, I’m passionate about developing technology for people with neurodegenerative diseases, like Parkinson’s Disease, who suffer from limited mobility and speaking capabilities. I view my research goals as developing innovative ways to maintain self-expression and autonomy. Additionally, I am enthralled by the brain and the technology that enables our understanding. Although our current grasp only scrapes the surface, neuroimaging provides a peak into the black box of the brain. Being naturally curious and knowledge-hungry, this technology motivates me even more to advance (1) knowledge underlying neural processes and neurodegenerative disorders and (2) the capabilities of current assistive technology and other therapeutic techniques.
