My role in management accounts was a secondment to the management accounts team for the Development and Society faculty at the University. I was responsible for updating and monitoring the income that comes into the faculty through student fees. I updated the income forecast model (a detailed view of students and income for each course within the faculty) on a monthly basis for latest student numbers and income values to ensure the management accountants had the correct information for… Show more My role in management accounts was a secondment to the management accounts team for the Development and Society faculty at the University. I was responsible for updating and monitoring the income that comes into the faculty through student fees. I updated the income forecast model (a detailed view of students and income for each course within the faculty) on a monthly basis for latest student numbers and income values to ensure the management accountants had the correct information for reporting. I have to look for and explain major differences in income between quarterly reporting periods.I also did any required journals related to income. This involved deferring income as fees are paid up front. The faculty needed to know on a monthly and quarterly basis what the exact income was for that month or quarter and any loss in income through credit notes or refunds if students withdrew. Show less

I was the first point of contact for finance queries via the telephone and also for staff reporting their absence from work. I checked the office support inbox and responded to queries. I administrated the holiday booking system and time sheets for full and part time staff and kept the emergency telephone tree up to date which involved checking phone numbers and line managers were correct so staff could be contacted in an emergency.
