Design and Project Engineer for the Johannesburg Fire Engineering team, duties and responsibilities at WSP include Rational Fire Designs, Rational Fire Engineering Reports and systems design for the installations thereof. Facilities include hotels, warehouses, offices, townships, breweries, depots and commercial premises.Daily tasks include:- Consulting clients on Fire Planning and Rational design- Project management of consulting teams in-office- Contracts management for construction projects- Systems design for sprinklers, water supplies- Report writing on various projects and experimental exercises for Rational PlanningProjects include:• Davita Trading Warehouse and Production Building upgrade (Fire Rational Plan, Sprinklers, Fire Detection) - Contracts Management:• New SAB Maltings Building, Alrode (Fire Rational Plan) - Fire Engineer• SABS Q-Block, Groenkloof (Fire Rational Plan) - Fire Engineer• ABI Storage Depots (CFD Simulation and Report) - Reporting on the burn and CFD simulations executed to establish compliance to Regulations and Sprinkler efficacy. Duties and responsibilities at SSI as a qualified mechanical engineer, include the design of new air conditioning- , ventilation and fire protection systems for new and existing developments such as office buildings, warehouses, hospitals, prisons etc. Daily Tasks included:- Air conditioning system design, including heat load calculations, system selection, and drawing of layout plan- Sprinkler Installations according to FM Global, ASIB and SANS standards- Preparation of tenders documents, including specifications and BOQ- Selecting equipment from suppliers- General project managmentProjects include:• Automatic Sprinkler Installation for Medupi Power Station Turbine and Boiler tunnels• Automatic Sprinkler installation for IDZ, East London warehouse• Mechanical systems (HVAC, hot water generation, medical gas, kitchen equipment and fire protection) for Lichtenburg Correctional Centre• HVAC repair and refurbishment project for Barberton Prison• HVAC and Fire systems for UP Visual Arts building• Fire Rational design for tUP Prinshof Lecture Hall complex• HVAC and Fire Rational design for Camden Power Station - New Office Complex
