Ms. Thomas is an electrical engineer with over 26 years of industry experience including power systems design, instrumentation and control system design, and project and construction management. Her area of expertise is in electrical systems design for power plants and industrial facilities. She has experience in the design of substation and process control equipment including protective relays, remote terminal units (RTUs), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and communication circuits. She is considered expert in the installation of switchgear, engine-generator sets, and motor control centers at hazardous industrial facilities. She also has experience in commercial facility design including lighting, power distribution and communication systems. She has extensive experience in design of power system control and protection that includes Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).Ms. Thomas’s design experience includes 500kV transmission line design, 345kV, 230kV, 138kV, 66kV and 34.5kV utility substations with emphasis on protective relaying systems design and coordination. She has worked with a both ETAP and SKM Analysis tools for load flow, short circuit analysis, coordination studies and harmonic analysis. She has managed the pre-selection, installation and commissioning of a DCS using the Emerson Delta V system. The system used a combination of field bus technology, DeviceNet and classic I/O. She has also managed the pre-selection, installation and commissioning a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).Ms. Thomas is also experienced in the design of Photovoltaic power plants including system modeling with PVSYST and NREL software as well as development of design specifications for DC power systems.Specialties: Electrical Design, Constructability Review, Value Engineering
