Laura also serves on the board of Ecologi, a trusted climate action platform that helps businesses and individuals invest in high-quality and high-integrity climate solutions.Laura’s private sector experience includes serving as Chief Sustainability Officer of Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) where she led sustainability, environmental compliance, social impact, philanthropy, and government relations. Laura established carbon reduction goals that reduced Best Buy’s carbon footprint by 55% by 2020. She was also instrumental in creating and implementing Best Buy’s consumer electronics recycling program, building a unique customer offering and recycling more than 2 billion pounds of electronic waste. More recently, Laura served on Governor Tim Walz’s Cabinet as the chief environmental regulator for the State of Minnesota where she had oversight for over 80,000 industrial and municipal permits for land, air, & water. She was appointed to oversee the Climate Change Subcabinet and Advisory Council where she led efforts resulting in more than $450M in climate investments and accelerated access to electric vehicles and infrastructure.
