Discovering a great product led to building a business from scratch. I travelled to China to source a manufacturing partner and returned to Canada with a 25 foot shipping container of product. Silk filled duvets sold in 32 interior design stores across Canada and feature in the Fairmont Pacific Rim and the Nita Lake Lodge. My fondest memories included creating the branding, designing the e­commerce site and executing the sales plan.

Hired and managed a team of 25 people to run the BCIT Whistler Olympic Park departure hub. The BCIT WOP departure venue moved between 500 to 2000 workforce and spectators daily. This job included arduous hours (12 + hour shifts), early morning starts (2:30am) and exposure to the elements during the month of February. Contributed to managing schedules, traffic control, incident reporting and day to day operation staff management.

My first recruiting gig, taught me how to deliver a recruitment experience that defied expectation. The secret to my success was listening to designers needs and matching them with a company that aligned with their creative skills and core values. I kept my finger on the pulse of the industry to understand which agencies would need talent and doubled my client list. This role was built around a commision based salary which taught me how to project budgets for each quarter. Projections were created through the formula of sourcing, 1st interview, 2nd interview and hire.

After passing the CASI Level 1 Snowboard Instructor certification course I was hired by Lake Louise to teach and coach beginner snowboarders, one on one and also group sessions. I learnt how to harness lesson planning and honed effective communication skills to ensure clients had fun and stayed safe on the mountain.
