  • Matt Fiddes Academies Limited
    Martial Arts Instructor
Matt Fiddes Academies Limited Jun 2014 - Sep 2016
    Bristol, United Kingdom
I successfully ran a once a week school in my local community teaching 2 classes of 3-6 year olds and 7+ (including mums and dads). I love the value that the skills, discipline, focus and application that are associated with martial arts can add to a persons overall personal development (whatever their age). I maintained a 100% pass rate, below average quit rate and high retention of students that caught me up to my belt level meaning I had to take a step back! I still assist regularly at other local schools and provide cover when necessary now that I have also achieved my 1st degree black belt.

I am now thrilled to be on board with John and the business to help run strategy workshops for businesses looking to implement new products or services through using the Lean approach and then facilitate ongoing output as determined by the output of those workshops.

  • The Marketing Store London
    Systems Implementation Project Manager
The Marketing Store London Jul 2009 - Oct 2009
This unique opportunity in a global agency arose through a referral following my time at Open Communications. The agency had recently invested in Filemaker based Project Management software and were facing difficulties with lack of integration into the day-to-day routine of the 60 strong Client Services team. Initially, my role was to trouble-shoot and train members of all teams as and when problems arose, but I soon identified a need to implement a new approval process in order to help the team maximise the benefit of the software into the existing creative process and trafficking methods whilst still delivering against commercial targets. One of the key problems was the time needed to adopt new software so, working closely with the Account Directors and Senior Management Team, I ran workshops with each of the 7 Client Teams tailoring the budgetary aspect of the software to optimise their efficiency and blend with existing client relationship and estimating methods. Ultimately, this position transcended the whole business working alongside the IT director to iron out technical issues, the Creative and Product Design teams with respect to training for timesheets and expenses, the Accounts department to ensure accurate auditing procedures were followed and reporting to the Commercial Director and COO to ensure their needs in terms of information output were met.
  • Wiltshire Farm Foods
    Interim Senior Marketing Executive
Wiltshire Farm Foods Mar 2009 - Jul 2009
I worked in the marketing department of this market leader in Frozen Food Home Delivery. My time with the team was my first client side and gave me insight into manufacturing and franchise business models and tested my marketing knowledge and practices. Here I learned to apply my agency experience in new directions and adapt my customer service approach with respect to the network of 70 franchisees and target market of the elderly.During this time I successfully completed a key project from concept to delivery in less than 1 month. This involved producing 140,000 copies of a 16-page product brochure in five different versions. To support this piece I developed direct mail items, sales promotion leaflets and advertising templates for an 8 week Summer campaign. Whilst working on this project I implemented a new standard for delivering marketing tools to the franchisee network to support Best Practice.Working within this marketing department enabled me to learn from the team in terms of developing marketing strategies and delivering against business objectives. I am pleased that some of my methods as a project manager have been adopted to improve both internal and external working relationships.
  • Open Communication
    Freelance Project Manager
    Open Communication Apr 2008 - Dec 2008
I joined Open when they were originally SixFive Design. The agency had grown from owner-managed business to a team of 4 full-time staff almost overnight following a merger with a digital business. As such the company needed account management support enabling the Managing Director to develop the business strategy and launch Open Communications. My remit was to forge the position of Account Manager into the business through:- Internal communication between the online and offline teams enabling a more integrated offering for clients- Planning, training and implementing new project management software for integration into the business process- Preparing content and overseeing design and delivery of new corporate Website for Open Communications- Account management including delivering trade communications for the Specialized Partnership Services programme. This included two Pitch Books demonstrating in-store merchandising programmes, fixtures brochure and Flash-based DVD presentation with 3D model walkthroughs

  • 375 Creative
    Project Manager
    375 Creative Feb 2005 - Feb 2006
Initially a small agency founded on the basis of using the best people for the job at the right time, I joined as part of the core team, helping them to implement various administrative processes in order to aid growth and diversity of projects. Whilst with the team I worked on a number of rebranding projects with established professional services firms and some of the Deloitte Fast 50 companies. This additional year helped to improve my depth of understanding of the process behind rebranding and also develop my ability to handle multiple projects across multiple accounts. Part of my role here was also to manage the flow of work through the studio with a team that grew from 1 to 4 full-time creatives and has continued in the same vein.
  • The Engine Room / Vhd
    Account Manager
The Engine Room / Vhd May 2002 - Jan 2005
Due to TUPE my role here was migrated from one agency to another. Both agencies offered an integrated approach to clients and the 3 years I spent working with them contributed greatly towards my development as an Account Manager. Whilst at the Engine Room I was responsible for the day-to-day running of several key accounts as well as managing every aspect of production for the company. The Engine Room also introduced me to the processes involved in generating key creative and brand strategy development for projects including branding and product launch campaigns. Being solely responsible for my own clients gave me greater independence in terms of building relationships and being a part of their growth. The combined aspects of my role contributed toward the successful handover of 2 key clients from Engine Room to VHD following a merger. At VHD I continued day-to-day management of the transferred key accounts, as well as taking on some new clients. This role proved to be quite challenging in terms of adopting and implementing new procedures for estimating, work flow and production with new suppliers, whilst maintaining the continuity and smooth flow of projects that existing clients had come to expect at a high standard. This changeover enabled me to introduce several process driven projects with more regularity and speed of completion – giving the client a more cost effective service. Being a slightly larger agency VHD also had a more structured approach to financial planning which has further developed my skills and accountability for meeting sales targets. During my time here, I not only worked as part of a team but was autonomous with regard to the future development of key accounts.

Whilst at Proctors I supported a number of the Managers and Directors on accounts such as Pirelli, BAA, Ingenta, Amacis and HP. I was fortunate to learn the basic skills with regard to account management and production with this great team.
