From the APS website: "The STEP UP Ambassadors are a group of STEP UP teachers and members who are committed to empowering fellow teachers to inspire young women to pursue physics. This is done through training and supported implementation of the STEP UP curriculum in classrooms around the country." Ambassadors attend regular training sessions on how to incorporate STEP UP curriculum materials into their school's established STEM or physics curriculum with the intent of educating others about the gender inequality that still exists in physics and encouraging more women to pursue a career or education in physics. In addition, ambassadors attend a summit conference for professional development and support in utilizing the curriculum materials. In the fall, the ambassadors host workshops to instruct other teachers about how to utilize the materials and how to broach the subject of gender inequality in a high school setting.

Worked as a substitute teacher at Rosemount High School in different classrooms as needed sometimes for a single hour of school or for many days at a time. I follow the teacher's schedule and sub plans for the class, directing the students in their assignments and monitoring the classroom. In a special case, I was in a classroom for two months, where I was teaching the class, making lesson plans, grading assignments, communicating with parents and administrators, and conducting parent/teacher conferences.

Held a paid internship through IRES (International Research Experience for Students) where I traveled to Bochum, Germany and worked with graduate students at the Ruhr University Bochum. Continued work on the IceCube project, focusing on the analysis of the moon and sun cosmic ray shadows using the programming language C++, as well as using the graphical programming language, ROOT. Upon returning to the United States, I attended many conferences (both local and national) to present my research.

Held a paid student internship position at the UWRF physics department working on the IceCube project during the Summer. Project focus was on conducting data analysis of the ice properties within the IceCube neutrino detector using the programming languages of Python, C++, and ROOT. Attended a "programming bootcamp" in Madison, WI to learn how to program and utilize IceCube software for data analysis. In addition, we held weekly phone and Skype collaboration calls with IceCube collaborators. After the internship was complete, continued working on the project during the year, as well as attended many conferences (both local and national) to give poster presentations on behalf of the IceCube collaboration.
