The primary purpose of the Talent Development Coach is to serve the career development needs of members of the eCommerce department. I did this through 1:1 coaching sessions where I dug into where the person is at, where they want to go, and how they plan to get there. I facilitated 360 surveys so individuals can gather feedback from their peers; and then through working with them to make meaningful action plans to help develop them into even more amazing versions of themselves.

Working as part of the eCommerce team at Best Buy, I was constantly learning, creating, strategizing and laughing with a group of people who are at the leading edge of their disciplines. My role was all about helping the customer find the information they need to make a purchase decision or figure out how to get the most out of their technology once it's home. My team created buying guides, product reviews, how-tos, gift guides and many other types of content to help with just that. I got to interact directly with customers on a daily basis in our forums and help them get answers to their questions - be it a technical issue, purchase question or customer service problem. I was also responsible for the Customer Review strategy & all other types of user generated content that we feature on the bestbuy.ca website.

As Community Manager for the Best Buy Plug-in and Future Shop Tech Yeah Communities, I was responsible for four forums and six blogs. The communities were all about connecting with our customers to ensure that they were having a great experience and positive interaction with the brand. We created blog content to help raise our SEO results, but more importantly, to help our customers find the information they needed to make informed decisions. It was a fast-paced environment that was equal parts fulfilling and challenging.

I was hired to manage the newly created Future Shop Forums get off the ground. It wasn't a common thing at this time for a brand to own their own forum platform, so it was a time of experimentation and trial and error - and a lot of fun! In addition to building out a successful forum program, I also launched a blog strategy and started the brand on twitter. A big focus during my time in this role was superuser engagement: building relationships with our top members and designing recognition programs.
