I teach English to newly arrived immigrant students at a high poverty school in Oakland, California. I have taught ELD 1, ELD 2, ELD 3, ELD 4, as well as more advanced 11th grade and 12th grade English learners. I have taught advisory classes to 9th, 10th, and 11th grade, and I also taught Algebra 1 to newcomers.

Taught English as a second language to international students

Taught courses in linguistics, supervised research assistants, advised students, analyzed language data, wrote and published research, gave presentations. Taught as invited instructor at institute for language activists and others seeking to revitalize endangered languages. Taught workshop in web design, taught a course in utilizing technology for linguistics research. Gave invited presentation at UCSB preview day for 120 at-risk high school students.

Conducted fieldwork in Indonesia, analyzed language data, and published research for the project “The Alor-Pantar languages: Origins and theoretical impact”, funded by the National Science foundation in collaboration with the European Science Foundation (PI Gary Holton). Taught distance-learning linguistics course for professional nurses.

Taught linguistics courses. Held office hours, advised students, and attended faculty meetings. Published a grammar and dictionary of a Philippine language.

Instructor for "Introduction to the Study of Languages", a linguistics survey course for non-majors. Course fulfilled university requirements for "writing-intensive" credit.

The Language Documentation Training Center trains native speakers of endangered or underdocumented languages in basic linguistics and language documentation skills and helps them create basic documentary materials, such as glossed texts, in their native languages. As the director, I sought funding, managed the budget, organized workshops, developed curriculum, recruited volunteers promoted the organization, and supervised instructors and mentors.

Managed all aspects of the Center's website, including posting of content, layout, design, photographs, etc.
