    At Kwik Trip not only did I wait on customers but I also had a duty list to complete every night. I was required to sweep, mop and scrub the floors. I was also required to make sure the store was faced and ready for customers during the overnight shift. I did work 3rd shift there and most of the time it was by myself. Another one of my requirements was to frost the doughnuts that went into the bakery case. This was a time sensitive job and did actually require a lot of skill and patience. Another requirement was to always have hot food out and make sure that it was fresh. To make sure that the food was made to Kwik Trip's specifications and the correct hold times were being observed. I was also required to do dishes and make sure the store was clean at all times. There was also a fresh case truck that was delivered every night. On this truck all of our bread, bananas, glazers and all of our fresh cold sandwiches and other miscellaneous items were delivered. Then there was the task of rotating the stock and making sure everything was properly dated and full so the store would be ready for the morning rush. I really enjoyed this job because I do like making a positive impact on people. I feel like I was able to do that here by making sure that everyone felt welcome and would want to return.

    When I first started at Menards I was in the shipping department. I was required to load 53ft trailers with a forklift. Most of my duties included knowing how to safely and efficiently operate different types of machinery. To load a trailer so the weight was distributed evenly and to also make sure that all products that were loaded onto the trailer were undamaged and in the proper order. Loading their trailers was like putting together a big puzzle. Most of the time I was loading split loads. What those are is trailers that carried loads to more than one store. In the front half of the trailer were items for one store and in the pallets or items in the back half of the trailer were for another store. Making sure everything was clearly marked was essential. Time was of the essence as well. Sometimes a hauler would show up early so making sure the loads were completed in a timely manner was crucial.The second department I worked in was Auto Receiving. I did still work on a forklift from time to time but mostly what I did was to run my own area. I was in charge of having trailers backed in, supervising the loading and unloading of the trailers, maintaining all of the paperwork that went with each load, locating a packing slip, using Menards specific computer systems to input data, printing and organizing stickers to be placed on items, and many more things. I was normally in charge of 5 to 6 people depending on how busy we were and making sure things were getting done correctly. Some of the orders that we had to deal with had product that needed to be separated out and taken to different departments so I had to make sure that was being done correctly. I have done many different things at Menards and did enjoy this job immensely.
