I'm the Founder and CEO of Mothership Rising. Mothership Rising is an app that makes it easy for friends and family to support the new parents in their life. We are like a meal train for emotional support whenever a parent welcomes a new child into their life. Our mission is to surround moms and parents with consistent, daily love and encouragement during what is typically a stressful and isolating time. I had my own challenges with PPA after I gave birth to my son in 2019 and I was humbled by the support I received from my community. The late-night texts kept me going during tough night feeds. And a simple "you are doing a great job" made me feel seen and appreciated while I was bumbling my way through figuring out if this cry was for a dirty diaper or because he was hungry. The support I received was the inspiration behind Mothership Rising. We are not a replacement for professional support but another added level of community care. In October 2020 we launched our MVP app with three main goals: 1. Normalize receiving support through the use of an emotional support calendar. Friends and family sign up on the emotional support calendar to be the support person for the parent. This is really the heart and soul of our offering. 2. Empower parents to ask for what they really need and take away the awkwardness in setting boundaries through our support wish list. 3. Create space for moms and parents to reflect and connect to their own experiences with daily uplifting texts.
