Laura Fant is a Special Employment Law Counsel in the Labor & Employment Department at Proskauer Rose LLP and co-Administrative Leader of the Counseling, Training & Pay Equity Practice Group. She is also the management side co-chair of the ABA Employee Rights & Responsibilities (ERR) Disabilities & Leaves of Absence Subcommittee.Laura frequently counsels on matters involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), including disability accommodation in the workplace and public accommodations. She is experienced in conducting accessibility audits and providing ADA and accessibility training for clients in a variety of sectors that include retail, sports and not-for-profit. She also provides general employment counseling and has experience in reviewing and updating employee handbooks and company policies under federal and state law and drafting employment and separation agreements and releases. Laura is a frequent contributor to Proskauer’s Law and the Workplace Blog (http://www.lawandtheworkplace.com/).Before joining Proskauer, Laura was Assistant General Counsel to the City of New York's Office of Labor Relations. She represented the mayor and city agencies in labor and bargaining disputes at arbitration and before the Board of Collective Bargaining. Prior to that, she was law clerk to Judge Jose L. Fuentes of the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division and a judicial intern to Judge Laura Taylor Swain of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. While in law school, she served on the Seton Hall Law Review executive board as Symposium Editor.
