Parkville High School

Taught ESOL students in the largest high school ESOL program within Baltimore County. Taught student immigrants from a diverse array of countries with a diverse array of languages. Taught classes with students aged 14 through 20 in common ESOL core classes, such as Advanced Writing, Reading & Discussion, and American Culture & History. Many challenges included students from war torn countries, from interrupted education backgrounds, and with a wide level of literacy issues. Dealing with and preventing gang involvement was often in the background of the job, and difficulties with high- stakes testing was always in the forefront.
