Hello! My name is Laura, and I am a freelance audiovisual translator.In many job descriptions in LinkedIn, people say that you have to be passionate about translation. The truth is that translation is such an important part of my life that if I want to enjoy a film to relax, I have to turn the subtitles off and watch the non-dubbed version (if I understand the original language, of course) because otherwise I get distracted. My mind enters a “translator state” that focuses more on the way the subtitles are written, the lip synchronization, the translation solutions, and so on, instead of focusing on the film.In my opinion, years of experience shouldn’t be everything people focus on to consider an application, because I think passion for translation is something that goes beyond.
