Directs R&D activities at our clinical trial facilities including R&D programming and planning, design, management, execution, and publications and technical marketing.

• Managed a biofluid dynamics laboratory: mentored four graduate students, advising them on their experiments, analysis and thesis writing; maintained and diagnosed laboratory equipment; managed laboratory inventory and protocols. • Conducted experiments measuring the viscous behaviour of blood under high rates of shear. • Supported research activities for the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering: supervised student employees, edited journal manuscripts, evaluated grant applications and coordinated a program to bring aboriginal high school students to the University to experience doing scientific research.

• Managed a research initiative, in collaboration with Suncor Energy, investigating the physics of removing liquid drops from surfaces, with the objective of optimizing a drying process. • Advised and mentored students and coordinated their various projects to be complimentary and cohesive with the overall project. Managed timelines and resources.• Designed and executed wind tunnel experiments and planned their protocol.• Quantified the effects of drop size, position and rate of wind forcing on the forces required to remove water drops.

I studied experimental fluid mechanics under the supervision of Stavros Tavoularis. Using various methods of flow visualization and velocity measurement, I studied the flow past mechanical prosthetic heart valves to better understand how they damage blood cells and cause blood to clot. As part of this research, I achieved the following:• Designed, modeled, built, and tested a flow loop to generate physiological pressure and flow waveforms of the aorta.• Proved the importance of the aortic sinus’s shape towards reducing blood turbulence. • Identified from the results an implantation orientation for the valve that results in lowered stresses on blood, increased coronary flow, and decreased risk of blood clot formation.

• Project team member and lead mechanical engineer for projects in the food and beverage, and power industries. • Designed piping and instrumentation systems and prepared and evaluated tenders. • Performed design calculations for a variety of heat transfer and fluid dynamic problems and sized and specified process equipment.• Worked with clients, vendors and other engineers to design and implement solutions to improve manufacturing processes.

• Assisted in the design and engineering of a grout mixing facility and of upgrades to a cogeneration steam power plant. • Made an analysis for the optimization of a power plant's energy streams (“Pinch analysis”).

• Managed two capital projects: the design and installation of a sewage lift facility, and the design and installation of a saw change-out apparatus. This included conceptualizing and evaluating various solutions, project development, procurement, construction supervision and project closeout. • Provided general engineering assistance to mill staff • Created and revised engineering drawings.

• Assisted with a motion analysis study testing prosthetic function in child amputees. • Collected data in a VICON motion analysis laboratory. • Performed literature reviews, and performed analysis of data by writing computer programs (MATLAB) and deriving mathematical solutions.
