Researcher in a multidisciplinary group at Helsinki University Centre for Environment and Marine Centre of Finnish Environment Institute. In this project I have concentrated on the loading of organic matter from different terrestrial sources into the Baltic Sea, and its effects on natural bacterial plankton communities. I have learnt to design and conduct my investigation in interdisciplinary co-operation to answer across systems research questions, and gained a broader perspective on the research question by coordinating and writing a review article on the subject. I have also gained good experience in presenting my investigation to different stakeholders and in applying further funding, and got teaching and supervising experience. I have also developed my skills in multifactorial analysis using e.g. R-program.

Researcher at University of Helsinki, Finnish Institute of Marine Research and Finnish Environment Institute.In three projects, I have worked as a researcher on questions related to C and nutrient cycling and heterotrophic bacteria in the Baltic Sea, with a focus on dissolved organic matter. During the projects I've learnt fundamental skills of scientific work, including designing and conducting my own work, writing scientific papers, communicating and working with international coworkers and presenting my results in scientific conferences. To learn molecular and single cell based technics, I visited for 6 months Institut de Ciencies del Mar, Barcelona, which is one of the leading Mediterranean marine research centres with renown microbial ecology laboratory.
