I set measurable objectives against which marketing activity could be planned and developed a marketing activity plan which I assisted in… Show more In December 2009 I was appointed by Halliwells, a commercial law firm, to undertake a special business development project for their Liverpool office. Over the course of the contract, I undertook internal and external reviews and worked with heads of department to develop a strategic business plan in line with current and predicted market trends. I set measurable objectives against which marketing activity could be planned and developed a marketing activity plan which I assisted in delivering and took responsibility for measuring. My role included particular responsibility for positioning of the Liverpool office through the full range of marketing channels, in particular PR and other communications. I delivered a transformational PR programme which resulted in increased buy-in to PR internally, identification of key messages and target audiences and successful placement of those messages in the right publications. Coverage and quality of content increased month-on-month from the start of the project.I also implemented a new strategy and structure for sales which included setting up and chairing regular business development meetings with partners, identifying targets and sectors which presented opportunities to win work and analysing existing client relationships to make recommendations on opportunities to cross sell services.I was asked by Hill Dickinson to transfer and assist in managing the integration of the two firms following the acquisition. I implemented a new system to deal with tenders and pitches, working with the creative and BD teams to take strategic decisions on pursuing new work through this channel and developing a suite of capability information for use in bids.I also reviewed market perceptions of the Switch Media brand and developed strategies for the positioning and promotion of the brand in strategic markets. Project - Inspection Event DirectorLiverpool World Cup Host City Bid 2018 Aug 2009 - Sep 2009Finch, The Ideas Agency, were appointed in July 2009 to work for Liverpool City Council in delivering the bid documentation and inspection event for Liverpool’s World Cup Host City Bid 2018 and they appointed me to create and direct the event for the FIFA inspection visit in early September, where the bid was presented. I put together a display of World Cup memorabilia, grass roots photography and an exhibition of official World Cup posters from 1930 up to the present day. For the presentation… Show more Finch, The Ideas Agency, were appointed in July 2009 to work for Liverpool City Council in delivering the bid documentation and inspection event for Liverpool’s World Cup Host City Bid 2018 and they appointed me to create and direct the event for the FIFA inspection visit in early September, where the bid was presented. I put together a display of World Cup memorabilia, grass roots photography and an exhibition of official World Cup posters from 1930 up to the present day. For the presentation itself, guests made their way through a players tunnel into the main room which had full TV studio set up for the presentation. I managed the celebrity involvement and attendance from the football clubs and directed the event on the day. The particular challenges that this project presented were the timescales, with delivery only four weeks from appointment. I had to develop strong working relationships quickly, both with senior leaders of Liverpool City Council and the Finch team. My existing understanding and experience of working with public sector organisations was key in managing the account and the feedback on both my account management skills and event delivery was extremely positive. The bid was successful, with Liverpool chosen as a host city for the final England 2018 Bid. Show less
