About Laura Jex
I am a creative, hardworking and ambitious Product Design Engineer. I have recently completed my MEng Product Design Engineering course, graduating with Merit. During my five years of study at the University of Strathclyde, I have learned a wide range of engineering and design skills, working with different materials and techniques to create innovative and unique industrial and consumer products.I have skills in design, prototyping, manufacturing and programming. I am highly skilled in CAD and am a certified SOLIDWORKS Associate in Mechanical Design. My customer service experience means that I am very customer-focussed and consider the end user experience in all of my design projects.During my course I have worked on multiple individual and team assignments, including my 4th year Industrial Group Project where I co-managed a team working with industry partner Better2Earth, finding suitable manufacturing locations and designing a production line for the manufacture of Porous Alpha. For my final year individual project I designed a solution to care for houseplant remotely. As deputy team manager for my 5th year group project we developed an ATM topper with improved sustainability credentials for client NCR.
