Shelter in Place Executive Producer and Narrative Podcasts CEO Laura Joyce Davis has joined the Stanford Storytelling Project (SSP) as a full-time lecturer and Managing Editor of SSP’s student-produced podcasts, including the award-winning State of the Human. SSP is an arts program at Stanford University that teaches students how to use story craft and practices to create personal and social change.

She is the founding director of Kasama Collective, a podcast training and mentorship program to launch women and non-binary creatives into careers in audio storytelling.A Minneapolis native who now calls Oakland home, Laura Joyce Davis is an award-winning fiction writer, a Fulbright scholar, a WNYC Podcast Accelerator finalist, and a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee. She's been featured in interviews with The Pod Broads, Future Hindsight, @Sea, Emerging Form , Out There, and elsewhere. She’s also a mom of 3 young kids who believe that anything is possible if you have a cape, a crown, and a very good book (she doesn’t disagree). In past lives she’s been a collegiate running coach, a Big Ten athlete, an award-winning cappella singer, and a 3x blue ribbon winner at the 4-H county fair. Whether in Shelter in Place or in Laura’s short stories and novels, Laura's writing is grounded in the conviction that changing systems begins with changing ourselves.
