  • Narrative Podcasts: Master Audio Storytelling And Creative Living In One Semester
    Chief Executive Officer
Narrative Podcasts: Master Audio Storytelling And Creative Living In One Semester Sep 2022 - Present
    Oakland, Ca
At Narrative Podcasts, we’re here because stories are how we made sense of life: first through writing, then in podcasting, then in teaching podcasting to others. It took us two years and 200 episodes to master the elements necessary for an award-winning, top 1% global podcast: scriptwriting, voiceover, interviewing, audio editing, sound design, collaboration, production, and more. It took us the previous 20 years to figure out creative living: why we’re creating, and what keeps us creating when we face rejection, burnout, or imposter syndrome. At Narrative Podcasts, you’ll get all of this in just sixteen weeks. By telling our own stories, and helping others tell theirs, we believe that we can create a better normal for all of us.NarrativePodcasts.com
  • Shelter In Place Podcast
    Host & Executive Producer
Shelter In Place Podcast Mar 2020 - May 2022
    Oakland, California, United States
When 2020 knocked her down, host Laura Joyce Davis had a choice: reach out or retreat? Through quarantine, job loss, wildfires, and a cross-country move, her new podcast Shelter in Place became the way she and her family created community while rewriting life along the way. Through open-hearted memoir and authentic conversations, Season 1 chronicled 100 daily narrative episodes of living in a world forever changed. Season 2 followed the Davises on their pandemic Odyssey across a divided nation. In season 3, the Davises returned to Oakland and explored both personal and global questions about what makes a place home. Today Shelter in Place is an award-winning podcast in the top 1% globally. Though it began with the pandemic, it quickly became about something much bigger: how can we look unflinchingly at our world's brokenness, and reimagine a better life through creativity and community? Whether you've been with us from the beginning or are just joining us at episode 200, we're so glad to have you in the neighborhood.
