I have devised and delivered a wealth of journalism courses, working with lawyers, academics and medics interested in writing for a mainstream audience. Current courses include online journalism, food writing, arts writing, magazine writing, environmental features and essays and a journalism taster.

I have written for a host of papers and magazines, interviewing Shania Twain for YOU magazine (The Mail on Sunday), writing about professional bridesmaids for Stella (The Sunday Telegraph) and following up news leads for the Sun on Sunday.

I looked after the consumer reviews section of the Independent, managing a junior production journalist and a team of about 40 freelance writers. I worked closely with the SEO teams to maximise traffic and put together the newsletters.

I was responsible for the production of three travel and heritage titles (Britain, Discover Britain and Cruise International), managing the workflow and looking after the websites, social media and newsletters.

I then moved to the weekend supplements, overseeing the Sunday supplement while the Deputy Editor was on maternity leave. I edited and wrote lifestyle pieces, from food and health to homes and gardens. I also looked after the Sunday columnists and set-up and ran a channel on the website for a commercial sponsor.

I started at the Telegraph as a freelance news and business sub, moving to staff in digital, where I helped develop the app and edited the homepage.

I wrote regular arts reviews and features, and was the main point of contact for freelancers. I also looked after payments.

I spent a year on the Daily Mail’s graduate scheme, with secondments at the Press Association and a local paper, before joining the features desk as staff. I rewrote copy, wrote headlines and drew layouts for the books and money pages. I also wrote regular book and arts reviews.
