About Laura Harper Chappell

My first real job was in boat insurance where I once asked a client if they would be waterskiing behind their sailboat. I earned the nickname dinghy. (Get it? Like the boat?) I realized I wasn’t passionate about boats, but that I was passionate about marketing an excellent product.I opened the Ross Bridge Resort in 2005 without losing my hair or my mind, and I’m still passionate about selling an excellent product. I love to watch my meeting planners' expressions (particularly if they are not from the South) when they see what people call “the Castle.” This is what I hear every day: "I don't have meetings that go to Alabama." #storyofmylife. But THAT is why we spent a trillion dollars building a destination resort here...to bring those meetings that don’t already book in Alabama to my beautiful state!My current goal is to make Ross Bridge a "found" instead of a "hidden" gem, as we are often referred to!When I’m not extolling the virtues of my gorgeous resort you’ll find me experiencing the renaissance of downtown Birmingham; you wouldn’t believe all the fun restaurants that are popping up here! Come visit and I’ll show you!
