Among other activities, they provide companionship to ease loneliness, assist with transportation and light chores, help to serve as eyes and ears to professionals who can intervene in case of medical or their deterioration on the part of the clients, and give support to informal caregivers. The model works in two main ways:Individuals seeking counseling call our support line and undergo a brief intake. Pro Bono Mental Health Program staff match candidates to a volunteer in our network providing pro bono counseling at their private practice setting.Some of our volunteers wish to dedicate their volunteers hours to an organization in need of mental health professionals and will travel to a host site to provide pro bono counseling at a school, shelter, mental health center, or another location.Lastly, we seek to build sustainable partnerships with various mental health stakeholders in the community such as local universities in order to provide pro bono supervision for post graduate licensure candidates who participate in our program as volunteers.Our program is currently operating in Pueblo and the Denver Area and will expand as our volunteer network and community partnerships grow.
