Architect, Interior Designer
CurrentLaura Davis is vice president and co-founder of hpd architecture + interiors. Laura is the principal of the Denver, Colorado office. Working directly with home owners, Laura guides her clients in new home design, renovation, remodels, additions, and historic preservation. Responsibilities include project management, client communications, conceptual design, architectural drawings, selection of interior finishes, hardware, and fixtures, and advocating for her clients during construction.Projects begin with conversation to discover the wants and needs of the home owner. The budget and timeline are reviewed and project feasibility is evaluated to assess the realities surrounding the project. Research into the zoning, property restrictions, and home owner association rules are important parts of the due diligence performed early in the project. If the project involves an existing home, Laura and her team will measure, photograph, and create drawings to accurately represent the current structure. From there, conceptual sketches are developed to explore options for the new design. During the design phase, several different floor plans will be presented to the client. Laura meets in person or virtually to review the designs and receive comments from the home owner. The home's design is refined again and presented to the client for further discussion. Once the design is approved by the owner, the construction documents will be developed in preparation for pricing by the contractor, permitting at the city, and construction. If requested by the client, Laura is happy to assist with interior color palettes, selecting tile, stone countertops, wood flooring, lighting and plumbing fixtures, and exterior materials. Furniture layout plans, finish schedules, appliance specifications, and detail drawings are available, if needed.
