As a sophomore at Rhodes College I established a Best Buddies chapter as an organization on campus. I was president of the chapter for my remaining three years in undergrad and the chapter continues to grow and be successful today. My hope was for Best Buddies to become a known name on campus and gain support from students and faculty. I was successful in bringing individuals with IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) together with students without IDD and in helping create friendships. By its third year, the chapter was very well recognized on campus and thriving with student that wanted to join and help make an inclusive environment for individuals with IDD.
