About Laura J. Malone, Cap®

After 4 years as Development Officer with Community Foundation of Lorain County, I am both grateful and proud to be part of such a great, giving community of nonprofits and donors.I am thrilled to be joining Charitable Solutions, LLC as Donor Relations Manager. I will still be based in Lorain County/Northeast Ohio but have missed the role of helping clients and their professional advisors integrate philanthropy in business exit strategies as well as other complex charitable strategies. I believe this work is extremely valuable to both the donors and the nonprofits who benefit from these acts of generosity. The Dechomai Foundation is a national donor-advised fund that was founded in 2003 to assist charitable organizations and donors in the often-daunting process of receiving, managing, liquidating and finally granting proceeds from non-cash donations and charitable gift annuities. All day-to-day managerial, administrative and operational functions are provided by Charitable Solutions, LLC a Jacksonville, Florida-based limited liability company.

Charitable Solutions, through Dechomai Foundation primarily deals with donations of non-cash assets, including but not limited to real estate, limited partnership interests, restricted securities, closely-held or privately-held companies, cryptocurrency, art and collectibles. In this position, I serve as the primary donor/professional advisor liaison from the initial conversation, through due diligence, donation all the way through to the final grant. This position runs point with a team of two accountants, a support staff and three senior attorneys. This role allows me to continue to expand upon my past experience with American Endowment Foundation that included a specialized focus on the charitable acceptance, investment, compliance oversight and liquidation of over $500M in complex assets (closely held stock, real estate, hedge funds/alternative investments, insurance policies and commodities). From that time until my departure in 2020, the team I lead completed over 80 gifts of closely held business interests/private investments by building trust and demonstrating the ability to establish effective relationships with business owners and their teams.
