Using a mixture of .NET, Powershell, and MS SQL Server to automate DBA tasks for my team.

Automated several manual DBA tasks, increasing both productivity and accuracy. --Developed a SQL Server security management tool used by the team to grant and manage user permissions and accounts across our environments.--Created a utility for moving our VLDBs to new clusters with minimal downtime.--Authored a set of PowerShell scripts to configure our new SQL Server instances with standard settings (Configurations, DBMail, User Accounts, Linked Servers, Backups and Agent Jobs).Ensured consistent deployment and execution of SQL Agent jobs.--Maintained a Standard Job T-SQL script that deployed Agent jobs based on the databases online in a given instance.--Created a job verification system and report, which ensured that all of the proper jobs existed and were enabled on the appropriate instances.--Investigated and resolved Agent job issues.Created a Queue-based Deletion System to remove data according to business requirements, while reducing contention within the database.--Deletion System is entirely table driven with regard to schedule and stored procedures to execute, as well as the ability to disable all or parts of the system as needed.Prior to creating an automated system, managed SQL Server security across both Production and Non-Production environments, ensuring consistent access was granted throughout. Assisted end-users with connection and access issues.Participated in a team priority of ensuring backups are implemented, monitored, and any issues resolved. Responsible for implementing log-shipping used for both moving databases and for standbys of our production databases, from which our backups are taken.Proactively managed Data and Log File space as part of the Operational DBA team. Also, participated in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Responsible for administrating production databases and test environments backing the company’s warehouse management system.Wrote standalone app used by the data processing team to retrieve customer data from the production system without requiring direct access.Maintained and created asp pages, including an online form for data modification requests, which ensured complete and accurate data was submitted.

Developed a defect tracking application and database for the Isuzu tester line, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of potential problem areas.Converted non-Y2K compliant databases to SQL Server 7.0.Performed troubleshooting for code and database issues.Significantly enhanced performance of the backend reporting app for the Kronos time-keeping system, and also improved the precision.Created an automated extraction to pull data from complex Excel sheets, and transform and load it into a SQL Server database.
