In partnership with USDA Forest Service, The Nature of Cities, and NYC Parks- To build understanding of and engagement with urban social-ecological systems through arts. - To facilitate transdisciplinary collaboration between artists, scientists, and land managers.- to curate events and public programs that explore ideas emerging from these collaborations.What are the criteria of “care” for both humans and trees to become centenarians? How might interspecies communication combat social isolation, particularly in aging populations? By offering NYC elders “Tree Pals,” I plan to document the audio-visual story of these caring interactions to amplify the power of relationships.

"Spaces for Healing" reimagines healthier New York City neighborhoods. My Good Form working group addresses how we can shape and invest in social infrastructure that reckons with intergenerational trauma and loneliness. Creating new visions and advancing policy recommendations related to public health and the built environment.

The Encore Public Voices Fellowship is a collaboration with The OpEd Project to accelerate the ideas and impact of new and necessary thought leaders working at the intersection of aging, longevity, intergenerational connection and social justice.

Public Artists in Residence (PAIR) is a municipal residency program that embeds artists in city government to propose and implement creative solutions to pressing civic challenges. PAIR positions Artists as creative problem-solvers who can create long-term and lasting impact by working collaboratively in open-ended processes to build community bonds, open channels for two-way dialogue, and create new possibilities for those who experience and participate in the work.During her PAIR collaboration with the Department for the Aging (DFTA), Nova produced a 45-page report "NYC Social Club: Design for the Future" for Commissioner Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez. Social clubs reflect Nova’s desire to deepen our understanding of social isolation and to re-imagine gatherings as intergenerational connective spaces that transcend technology and pandemics.
