I'm the media lead for the Russell Group central team, based in Westminster, creating opportunities to improve understanding of what we and our member universities do, advocate for policy and environments that maximise the quality and impact of their contributions, and shine a light on the priorities and concerns of our members and the broader HE sector.My role involves securing high-value media coverage including news and comment, as well as handling emerging issues that may carry reputational risk for the Russell Group and its member universities. I work closely with our member organisations and other stakeholders including other sector mission groups, government departments and wider partners.

I led on proactive PR stories and reactive commentary - securing targeted coverage that showcased impactful research, specialist expertise, key corporate news and examples of fantastic student experience and achievement. I handled negative issues, reputational risk and crisis comms, as well as briefing senior spokespeople and delivering media training. My achievements at Herts also included events planning and management, corporate partnerships, social media and web content.I line-managed four direct reports across two teams, providing decisive, supportive and empathetic leadership.

Ed Fringe Review (EFR) is the Edinburgh Festival branch of the Online Theatre Review family. The site publishes reviews focusing on student, amateur and Free Fringe shows to promote the undiscovered Fringe.I co-edited the website in 2012: managing four teams of reviewers, liaising with PR teams across the festival, writing and editing reviews, updating the website and managing the budget for the project.

Cambridge

I edited the theatre section of 'The Cambridge Student', a leading student newspaper. This involved writing, commissioning and editing reviews and features; conducting interviews; and liaising with producers and venue managers to build trusted relationships. I gained experience using Adobe InDesign and undertook Press Complaints Commission training.
