As Deputy GC at Bandwidth, I manage and lead the global privacy program for a communications software company, including privacy by design in product development, responsible use of AI, vendor risk management, data protection policies, consent and lead generation, and contract negotiation. I routinely advise on risk management under the GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and emerging privacy and data protection laws. I also support our marketers in strategy and execution from brand to content to paid media, and I have extensive experience advising on compliance, content clearance, and endorsements in social media, advertising and promotions in all media, trademark and brand management, mobile apps, and online operations. I’ve served as the dedicated lawyer for a 600-person global marketing organization in a software analytics company for 7 years, where I negotiated agreements and helped balance risk and strategy in sponsored content, multichannel advertising, and both outside & in-house agency creative. In this role I met the challenge of market and regulatory changes in social media, martech, and adtech by teaching practical privacy as a brand element, customer experience imperative, and market differentiator.
