The Communication Trust is a consortium of over 50 voluntary and community organisations with expertise in speech, language and communication. Over 2011, The Communication Trust ran the Hello campaign (national year of communication) to make children and young people's communication development a priority in homes and schools across the country www.hello.org.uk

I CAN is the children's communication charity. I CAN’s successful three year awareness raising campaign, Make Chatter Matter, emerged the issue of speech, language and communication. This involved bringing together a 65 strong cross-sector coalition of organisations and high profile opinion formers. This work involved leading a programme of stakeholder engagement roadshows across the UK targeting 15,000 families and children in socially deprived areas with information and resources on children’s communication. Other highlights included; - Securing finalist award nominations for I CAN’s work including ‘Best PR Campaign’ at the PR Week Awards.- Securing TV, radio and print press around the launch of the Bercow Review recommendations. This included BBC Breakfast, GMTV, The Times, PA and The Guardian. 73% of the coverage on the issue included I CAN and 100% of the TV coverage including I CAN children and families.
